Brenda Lynne Slaughter had to retire at an early age of 43 and she was asked by her therapist to start creating artwork for a way to help her life and have something good.  She promptly enrolled in an art course at Rose State College, thinking this would never work because in all her grade school years she had never attended any true lessons.  So the new world began and off to college she went.  She enrolled in the senior classes, first taking clay sculpture, and oil painting and then water color and acrylic classes.  When she truly started to find a direction, she started working with colored pencils and maintained watercolors.   Now her favorites are colored pencils, watercolors and acrylics.  She joined Mid-Del Art Guild in Midwest City, OK and then upon encouragement by her teachers she also joined the Oklahoma Art Guild and then encouraged by a good friend, the Colored Pencil Society of America.  Now she adventures out to show others what she ahs accomplished so far, but still knowing that there is so much more to learn.  She loves to work hard on her projects and creates many non-traditional works still using her favorite mediums.  Now at the age of 50, in 2009, she hopes to continue with her love of creating art.
