Media: Drawing and Painting in various mediums
Kevin Wells has enjoyed drawing and making art for as long as he can remember. Art is something he's always been able to naturally do. He started on a Big Chief tablet with Crayola Crayons when he was very young and at the age of 14, he took a few private lessons. And he still has his very first oil painting from 1976. While attending High School in Marlow Oklahoma, he practiced by copying the works of Homer Winslow. Next, Kevin studied commercial art at Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee, OK. Life took another turn though and Kevin pursued a career in the oilfield and construction then the U.S. Navy. Art was always an unfinished goal and so he returned to school at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma where he was introduced to many different mediums. He found that he loved to work with pottery, sculpture, jewelry making, printmaking with intaglio, silkscreen, and linoleum cut, but most of all, he excelled in the 2D mediums of drawing and painting.
From the artist: "I'm more interested in color. I was trained in the Impressionist style, thus it's how I paint. I consider myself an Impressionist, although I have explored many other styles. I had down time from art for about 5 years due to some personal issues in my life. I began creating art again in the summer of 2009. Since then, I've been very productive. Please check out my portfolio and Website above. Thank you."
